Short biography

Liesbeth Bracke joined AGC in 2012 as a strategic market development manager in Brazil. One year later, she moved to our European headquarters in Belgium to lead promotional activities for interior glass sales in Europe. In 2018 she became product manager for a new product in the AGC range, Clearsight anti-reflective glass. She also took on a global role to enhance AGC’s differentiation and positioning, and accelerate growth of the interior glass business unit. Liesbeth holds a master’s degree in business engineering. 

What was the goal when launching anti-reflective glass?

"When it was brought to market in 2016, our main goal was to target the museum industry, as anti-reflective glass is typically used for museum display cases. Visitors don’t always realise it, but the most prestigious art pieces in museums are protected behind anti-reflective glass in order to highlight the item itself and prevent annoying and disruptive reflections. Clearsight is produced in Cuneo, Italy, and with its outstanding performance, it has become a benchmark in the showcase industry."

Have you noticed an increase in surprising applications for this product?

"Yes, many new applications have arisen in recent years, mainly in the window and facade segment: shop windows, lounge areas for sports facilities, advertising street panels, control towers, viewing decks and high-end residential windows.

However, the COVID-19 pandemic created a surprising demand for anti-reflective glass in the public transport market. By integrating a Clearsight glass protection screen in buses, not only can we create a protection barrier between the driver and the passengers, but also ensure driving safety since the anti-reflective coating prevents light reflections from disturbing and distracting the driver."

I am impressed at how anti-reflective glass is not only a luxury product creating optimal experiences in museums, shop windows and places where excellent visibility is important, but has also proven in recent months to be an essential technology for increasing safety in public transport and protecting the public.
